Hady Roger Idris est né à Paris en 1912 et est décédé en 1978. Il fut professeur de langue arabe au lycée Carnot de Tunis. Historien et professeur à la Faculté des Lettres et des Sciences Humaines d'Alger en 1962, il se spécialisa dans l'histoire de l'Occident musulman, domaine auquel il consacra de nombreuses études. Sous l'égide de son maître, Robert Brunschvig, il soutint à la Sorbonne en 1959 sa célèbre thèse intitulée : « La Berbérie orientale sous les Zirides ». Il évolua au sein d'un milieu académique dont les figures de proue étaient Georges Marçais, Ḥasan Ḥusnī ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, Régis Blachère et Claude Cahen.

Hady Roger Idris was born in 1912 in Paris and died in 1978. He taught Arabic at Carnot College in Tunis and later became a historian and professor at the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences in Algiers in 1962.

He specialized in the history of the Islamic Maghreb, about which he published numerous studies. At the suggestion of his professor and supervisor Robert Brunschvig, he completed his acclaimed PhD thesis, “The Eastern Lands of Barbary under the Zirid Dynasty”, at the Sorbonne in 1959.

He conducted his research in an academic environment shaped by prominent scholars such as Georges Marçais, Hassan Housni Abdelwahab, Régis Blachère, and Claude Cahen.
